The house was adjourned twice today after heated arguments were erupted between ruling MPs and their opposition counterparts today.

MP Namal Rajapaksa expressed his views about CCTV footage during his address to parliament, and subsequently MP Mujibar Rahuman, in his address, referred to late ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.

Certain statements by MP Rahuman dragged some opposition MPs to engage in a heated argument. This led to adjourn the house for ten minutes.

When MP Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha and several other Opposition MPs attempted to assault MP Mujibar Rahuman, the tense situation was intensified.

Later Opposition MPs urged Mujibar Rahuman to withdraw certain words he used during his speech. AS the situation did not return to normal, the house was adjourned for the second time.

Parliament recommended after one and half hours following the Speaker’s decision to remove certain comments made on Thajudeen’s murder from the handsard.
