Parliament was adjourned twice yesterday after heated arguments erupted between ruling MPs and their opposition counterparts.

MP Namal Rajapaksa expressed his views about CCTV footage during his address to parliament, and subsequently MP Mujibar Rahuman, in his address, referred to late ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.

Certain statements by MP Rahuman dragged some opposition MPs in to a heated argument.

Later Opposition MPs urged Mujibar Rahuman to withdraw certain words he used during his speech.

As the situation did not return to normal, the house was adjourned for the second time.

Parliament recommended after one and half hours following the Speaker’s decision to remove certain comments made on Thajudeen’s murder from the hanzard.

However, MP’s representing the Joint Opposition walked away in protest, without participating on the budget debate pertaining to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
