MP Johnston Fernando granted bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate over case filed by Bribery Commission (BC) for failing to submit assets declaration. 

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the release of former minister Johnston Fernando on bail.

Accordingly, Fernando was released on 50 thousand rupees cash bail and a 5 million rupees personal bail.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations on Bribery or Corruption had sued Johnston Fernando for his failure to declare his assets and liabilities during a period of five years beginning in 2010.

The Magistrate also issued a ruling preventing MP Fernando from leaving the country. 

The case will be called again on April 27th next year.
