Tonnes of imported rice sold at higher prices seized

The special investigation unit of the Consumer Affairs Authority seized 200 tons of a variety of imported rice while being packed in bags of different brand names which would be sold at  higher price tags.

It was reported that the expiry date of the rice has also been extended by ten months.

The keeper of the rice store and two others have been arrested in connection with the incident.

One of the charges against the culprits is that the distributors contact information is not noted on the rice bag labels.
