Hirunika Premachandra’s security guards remanded until January 4 for abducting, threatening and beating a person - Hirunika not produced before Court.

The six security guards attached to the personal security team of MP Hirunika Premachandra have been remanded till January 9 for allegedly abducting, threatening and beating a person of Dematagoda.


The Colombo Chief Magistrate remanded the suspects when they were produced before Court by the Colombo Police Crime Division this morning.

However Hirunika Premachandra has not been produced before Court today.

Hirunika Premachandra’s body guards abduct and assault person in Dematagoda - Threatened at Kolonnawa Office - Body guard in police custody

Police have initiated investigations to ascertain whether MP Hirunika Premachandra has any involvement in the incident where a person was abducted in Dematagoda and assaulted later.

It has already been confirmed that the Defender Jeep which had been used for the abduction belongs to MP Premachandra.

The victim says that the abductors were MP Premachandra body guards.

The abduction occurred at  1.30pm yesterday.

 34-year old Amila Priyanga of Gotatuwa was employed at a Textile shop in Dematagoda.

The abduction had been recorded on the CCTV cameras.

Police investigations also revealed that the abductee was thought to have had an an affair with the wife of MP Premachandra’s supporter.

The victim told our news team that the abductees took him from Dematagoda to MP Premachandra’s office where he was threatened by the MP. He also said that he was beaten by his abductees.

Following the intervention of police, the victim was freed. The six persons suspected to be involved in the abduction were arrested. surrendered along with the Defender Jeep to Colombo Crime Division this afternoon.

The suspects were accompanied by MP Hirunika Premachandra to the Crime Division.

Meanwhile Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that an identification parade will be conducted after the suspects are produced before Fort Magistrate court.
