The Defender vehicle bearing the number plate 62-1859 which was registered under Hirunika Premachandra was used for the abduction of a person at Dematagoda in broad day light.
Already many proofs specifying the involvement of Hirunika Premachandra in this abduction are there.
By now it has been proved that the abduction took place in the vehicle which belonged to her. Similarly the abducted person has been taken to her office which is situated in Kolannawa.
It is another proof that she has threatened the abducted person there. But the police have not yet arrested Hirunika Premachandra for these allegations.
We queried regarding this from Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission’s (SLHR) former Chairperson Professor Prathiba Mahanamahewa.
He stated according to the legislation that it is considered to be a crime to aid a person to be abducted.
He also stated any such person could be penalized with an imprisonment of 7 years.
He further stated that it is against the law if parliamentary representatives try to resolve issues by force and if legal actions are not being taken against such persons it will be a wrong example.
