The Colombo Crimes Division has obtained another statement from Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra over the abduction of a youth in Dematagoda.
Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that Police has obtained permissions to inspect phone records pertaining to the abductions.
A gang that came in a Defender vehicle had abducted the 34-year-old resident of Gothatuwa who was an employee of a textile shop in Dematagoda.
The incident was recorded in the shop’s security cameras.
The abducted person said that the persons concerned abducted him in Dematagoda, assaulted him and took him to MP Hirunika Premachandra’s office.
The abducted person said that at the office the MP had threatened him.
The suspects were remanded till the 4th of January, but MP Hirunika Premachandra who is the main accused of the incident has not been arrested.
Evidence is already available to the fact that the defender used for the abduction belongs to MP Hirunika Premachandra and then she had threatened the victim in concern.
Although the Police says that further statements are been obtained, a question arises as to why isn’t the available evidence sufficient for taking further action.
