A meeting of the Tamil People’s Council recently established by Northern Province Chief Minister C V Vigneshwaran is currently underway in Jaffna.

Our correspondent stated that parties representing the Council were participating in the meeting during which few important decisions were to be made.

A representative of the Council stated that steps that need to be taken to reach a Political solution and also appointing committees to look in to alleged human rights violations during the war were to be focused during the meeting.

However, the establishment of the Tamil People’s Council is seen to be a result of the deepening rift between TNA Leader R Sambanthan and Chief Minister Vigneshwaran.
