The Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that Attorney General’s advice will be obtained today concerning parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra for her involvement in abduction and assault of a resident from Dematagoda.
He also said the reports of the investigation conducted by the Colombo Crime Davison with regard to this incident will also be forwarded to the Attorney General today.
A 34-year old man employed by a textile shop in Dematagoda was abducted in a Defence Jeep belonging to Hirunika Premachandra on December 30th.
This abduction carried out in broad daylight was recorded on CCTV cameras. The abductee had been taken to MP Premachandrans Office in Kolonnawa.
The abductees stated that he was threatened by Hirunika Premachandra in her office.
The abductee further said that he was assaulted by MP Premachandra’s body guards. The suspects have been remanded till January 4.
The Colombo Crime Division questioned Hirunika Premachandra twice following the incident. However, Hirunika Premachandra, who is directly involved in this incident has not yet been arrested.
