Kolonnawa Urban Council Chairman Ravindra Udaya Shantha who was accused of launching an attack on a demonstration in Meetotamulla was placed in remand custody today until January 4th.

A motion for Ravindra Udaya Shantha was moved before the Additional Magistrate of Colombo Fort this morning and, Magistrate Augusta Atapattu given a stern warning to police against bias activities.

People’s movement against Meetotamulla Garbage Mound

K. Keerthirathna Perera expressed his views about the garbage mound during a media conference held yesterday in Colombo.

Meanwhile a committee comprising the secretaries of the ministries of Megapolis and Western Province Development, Town Planning and Water Supply, Provincial Council and Local Government and Environment have been appointed to solve the Meetotamulla Garbage issue.
