It is revealed in court, that the person abducted in Dematagoda was brought before Hirunika
It has been revealed in Court that the person abducted from Dematagoda was taken before Hirunika Premachandra. This was informed to Court by the Colombo Crime Division yesterday.
The Colombo Crime Division informed Court yesterday that the daughter of the fifth suspect gave a statement describing details about this incident on December 30th. Accordingly, the suspects have met Hirunika before as well as after the abduction of the man from Dematagoda.
In a report to Court, the Colombo Crime Division quoted the daughter of the fifth suspect saying that she accompanied her father to visit the Wellampitiya police on December 21st and, later she met Hirunika Premachandra at her office.
In addition, the fifth suspect has given his consent to give a confidential statement with regard to this incident before the Magistrate and, police have requested Court to facilitate this on January 4th.
The Crimes Division also requested Court to issue an order on the Superintendent of Prison to separate the fifth suspect from the others until the confidential statement is obtained.
A 34 year old employee of a Textile shop in Dematagoda was abducted by a group of persons who drove in a Defender Jeep belonging to Hirunika Premachandra on December 21st.
Meanwhile, addressing a media conference held in Colombo today Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the statement recorded from the fifth suspect and his daughter will be submitted to the Attorney General.
The 34 year old abductee stated that he was taken before Hirunika Premachandra by the abductors.
Eight supporters of Hirunika Premachandra are currently in remand custody in connection with the incident. Even though the incident took place 11 days ago, Hirunika Premachandra who was directly involved in the abduction has not yet been arrested.
Political representatives questioned as to why Hirunika has not been arrested as evidence has surfaced to prove Hirunika’s direct connection to the incident.
Frontline Socialist Party Propaganda Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda, Battaramulla Seelarathana Thera and Convener of the Left Circle Chameera Perera expressed their views over the matter as well.
