A new chapter has been opened in the history of the two countries, said Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe. He made this observation yesterday following a bilateral discussion with Foreign Affairs Minister of Norway, Borge Brende. Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende is expecting to meet the President Maithripala Sirisena today (08).
In a media statement after discussions with the visiting Norwegian delegation, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said a special session in parliament on Saturday (January 9) will form a constitutional council which will draft the new constitution.
Stating that Sri Lanka’s multicultural identity was a strength to the country, Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende in his statement said the reconciliation process was fully supported by Norway.
Brende, will be the first Norwegian minister to visit Sri Lanka since 2006, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, according reports.
