Journalists disrupted at court during the inquiry to the death of Ambilipitiiya youth

The Case following the death of a youth in Ambilipitiya during a recent clash with police was taken before Ambilipitiya Additional Magistrate Prasanna Fernando today.

Our correspondent stated that the telephone operator of the Ambilipitiya police station who was on duty at the time of the incident and two police officers of the mobile unit testified before Court today.

Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera has appeared for the police today.

Meanwhile, journalists covering the Court proceedings were disrupted by the police officer who was deployed on duty at the Court. 

Our correspondent said that the policeman took away the notebooks of the journalists into police custody and provided them with blank papers instead.

However after the matter was informed to the Police Media Spokesman, the Court Registrar returned the notebooks to the journalists.

The Case is scheduled to be called again tomorrow.

Meanwhile another Case against eight persons who were arrested during the party in Ambilipitiya was also taken for hearing today.

Several of the eight suspects who were charged for assaulting police officers testified before Court today.

Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera further spoke about today’s Court proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the National Police Commission Ariyadasa Coorey said that a full review will be made tomorrow on the investigation conducted by police on the death of the Ambilipitiya youth.
