Four notorious underworld gangsters who were allegedly involved in several crimes recently in the South have been arrested today by police.

 

The Police stated that two firearms, 13 rounds, a motor cycle and 6 mobile phones allegedly used to carry out these crimes were also seized.

 

A senior police officer involved in the investigations told our news team that operations have been launched to arrest three other suspects belonging to this group.

 

One of the suspects had served in the Sri Lanka Air force and, he has been hospitalized after receiving gunshot injuries.

 

Five incidents of man slaughter and shootings were reported from Ambalangoda, Meetiyagoda and Hikkaduwa within the last 45 days and, the all three incidents of shooting were reported within 12 days.

 

Meanwhile, the Police Media Spokesman’s office stated that the four suspects were scheduled to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate Court today.
