Paddy Stocks Removed From Mattala

The relocation of 4054 metric tons of stocked paddy from the Mattala airport commenced this morning.

Minister of Social Services and Welfare, P. Harrison noted that the full stock of paddy stored in Mattala will be moved completely over the next few weeks.

40 Lorries per day will be deployed for the restocking process. Minister P Harrison noted that within the course of the day 40-50 metric tons of paddy is expected to be moved.

The paddy Marketing Board began the storing of paddy at the Mattala airport on the 2nd of September 2015.
