Police+to+Take+a+New+Move+against+Emerging+Criminal+Gangs

The police have initiated a program to enlist the active criminal gangs and their affiliated members as underworld operations are still underway in the South.

Special attention has been drawn to such gangs currently active in the districts of Galle and Hambantota.

Meanwhile skilled policemen have been picked up from several divisions to create a special detective unit to handle the emerging criminal groups in the province.

Police further stated that special investigations will be carried out to identify who and how these criminals have come into possession of firearms.
