Minister  of buddasaaana Wijayadasa Rajapaksa said the Draft Bill to introduce the Theravada Ecclesiastical Code was presented to parliament after due approval was obtained from the Chief Prelates.

The Bill was presented by Chief Government Whip and Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka and views were expressed over the new Draft Bill at several events today as well.

A group of clergy and laymen including a representative of the Jathika Sanvidana Ekamutuwa,  Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera met the Chief Prelates of the Malwatu and Asgiri Chapters to explain about the new Draft Bill.

  

Meanwhile Bodu Bala Sena Organization’s Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera said during a media conference in Colombo today that his organization will not let this Draft Bill pass in parliament.

   

said during a media conference held at the Information department to make know Cabinet decisions today the minister of Buddhasasana  Wijayadasa Rajapaksa said that the government is ready to make amendments to the Bill, at its working committee stage.
