UK to support Sri Lanka to regain GSP+

Visiting UK State Minister for Asia at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire addressing the Council of Business with Britain in Colombo yesterday said that the UK is supportive for Sri Lanka to regain its GSP+ status.

"Sri Lanka has to fulfil another one or two criteria to regain this GSP+ status. Whitehall is fully supportive of this process", he said.

Swire also stressed the importance of tackling corruption.

The UK is providing anti-corruption training and anti-bribery expertise to the Sri Lankan authorities.
