The Consumer Rights Protection National Organization (CRPNO) has demanded the government to provide the benefit of world crude oil price drop to local consumers by reducing fuel price in the local market immediately.

CRPNO further added that legal actions will be taken if the government fails to slash oil prices in the local market.

Referring to new price levels in the world market, President of the CRPNO Ranjith Vithanage said that the government could bring down the prices of petrol and diesel to 90 rupee a litre and 70 rupee a litre respectively.

World crude oil prices had plummeted to a record low USD 29.42 a barrel recently.
