The NFF states that the transparency of investigations into the Embilipitiya incident where a youth died during a clash with police, is being disputed.
Party media spokesman Mohammed Musammil said that action should be taken against the policemen involved in the incident irrespective their status.
Meanwhile the JVP also said that proper action should be taken against the behavior of the policemen who were involved in the incident.
Party General Secretary Tilvin Silva made this statement during a media conference held in Colombo this morning.
The incident in question occurred on January the 4th, when a clash erupted between police and a group of residents during a party held at a house in Maha Ela in Embilipitiya.
29-year old Sumith Prasanna Jayewardene, who fell from the upper level of the residence, later died at Ratnapura hospital.
Comments relating to the incident by various quarters of the community and, the behavior of the officers from Ambilipitiya police have been heavily criticized.
Under this backdrop, an investigation has been initiated under the direction of Senior DIG in charge of the Sabaragamuwa Province, Chandana Wickramarathna.
The Interim report of the investigation has been handed over to the IGP.
The Interim report informed the IGP that further investigations should be conducted, as the behavior of Embilipitiya police is suspicious.
Meanwhile Shashika Nishamani, the spouse of the individual who was killed following a row with police in Embilipitiya says she lacks protection and security.
