President Maithripala Sirisena affirms that religious conduct is more relevant and vital than laws and regulations to harmonious coexistence among nations.
His Excellency made this remark at the Thai Pongal day celebration at Hindu Vidyalaya in Payagala, Kalutara.
President was accompanied by former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunga and few ministers at the celebration.
President Maithripala Sirisena said he would request Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to import beef from foreign countries to reduce "cattle slaughter" in Sri Lanka.
President’s remark on cattle slaughter as a non-meet consumer was later discussed among public for its Tamil interpretation.
