Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council, Peshala Jayarathna stated that a petition will be produced before High Court of Justice requesting to interpret powers, privileges and limitations of Palath Sabha bodies.

Frequent violations of powers and privileges of local bodies by many Ministers in Central Government has been the core reason to compose the petition.

He alleged that regular summoning of Principals of schools governed by Provincial Councils to Colombo by higher officials in Education Ministry creates confusion about powers and limitations of local bodies.
