President Maithripala Sirisena pledges that he commits to save the nation from alcohol and drugs despite the revenue it generates.
The national programme is underway to create a healthy country, a better economy and better life for every citizen, added the President.
His Excellency made this remark yesterday at the National Drug Prevention Programme centering Colombo District, titled A Drug-Free Nation.
The event was held in the National Youth Services Council.
Addressing the gathering, the president pointed out that the legal revenue produced by alcohol and cigarettes consists over two third of the GNP while noting drugs deemed illegal have rooted society in a massive routine has become a challenge to the nation.
