IGP N.K. Ilangakoon appeared before the National Police Commission with regard to the fatal incident in Embilipitiya where a youth died in a clash with police recently at a party at Maha Ela.

Meanwhile the policemen who were transferred after the incident appeared before the Human Rights commission today.

A Commission spokesman said several of them are still present at the Commission.

However the police headquarters have appointed two OICs to the Embilipitiya police station within three days.

Police stated that Embilipitiya OIC S.R.J. Dias who was transferred to Avissawella police on January 17th has been called to police headquarters.

Piliyandala OIC W.A. Somarathna and ASP in charge of Ratnapura have both been transferred to embilipitiya.

Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated today Hanwella OIC G.W.S. Sumanapala was transferred to Embilipitiya.

It also stated that Piliyandala OIC who was transferred to Embilipitiya on January 17th has been transferred to the headquarters of police field force.

Meanwhile the widow of Sumith Prasanna who died in this incident stated that police are attempting to hide evidence from the incident.

An adjournment debate is scheduled to be held with regard to the Embilipitiya incident on January 28th.
