Sri Lanka's Health Ministry under the directions of Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has appointed a three-member committee to probe the alleged kidney racket reportedly involving six Sri Lankan doctors.
Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Maheepala appointed the committee Thursday (21).
The committee includes Private Health Services Director of the Ministry of Health Kanthi Ariyaratne, Director of the Western Province Health Services Deepthi Perera and a senior official of the Health Ministry's Investigative Unit.
The committee will conduct investigations at the private hospitals and submit a report to Minister Senaratne within a week. The Medical Council will also be notified of the six doctors involved in the racket.
