The Health Services Trade Union Federation today exposed the names of two doctors who have been involved in the kidney transplant racket between Sri Lanka and India.
The IGP has directed Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province to conduct an investigation into the scandal.
Addressing a media conference held in Colombo today, Health Services Trade Union Federation’s convener Saman Rathnapriya said several doctors attached to a few private hospitals have also been charged for their involvement in the racket.
The Health minister appointed a three member committee to probe this kidney racket between Sri Lanka and India. The committee is expected to complete the investigation within three days.
All kidney transplant operations performed on foreigners at local private hospitals have been suspended by the government until the scandal has been probed.
