Fishermen from Tamil Nadu have decided to launch an indefinite fast from today (Tuesday 26th), demanding the release of fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan Authorities.

The NDTV reported, fishermen will protest demanding the release of the fishermen and their boats seized by the Lankan authorities.

The Fishermen Associations have also urged the Indian and the Tamil Nadu governments to take effective steps to secure the release of the fishermen.

Earlier this week, the fishermen also decided to boycott the St Antony’s church festival in Katchatheevu in protest against the non-release of 67 boats.
