Newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mohammed Zaeri Amirani said that he will commit to upgrade bilateral relations, including economic affairs, to provide Sri Lanka with best profits and advantages of slashes in oil prices.

The remark was made in a discussion between Ambassador Zaeri Amirani with the Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen in Colombo recently.

Iran demonstrates special interest to begin crucial joint trade discussions on re-commencing petroleum and petrochemical sales to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka imports nearly 50000 barrels of crude oil from Iran every year.
