Ministry of health affirms that Sri Lanka has no Zika threat so far.

Director of Central Epidemiological Unit, Dr. Paba Palihawadana told Hiru News that Ministry of Health is ready and equpiied to face any potential threat of the virus.

The Zika disease has been detected in 21 Latin American countries and linked to birth defects making pregnant women the most vulnerable to the virus.

However, Sri Lanka began screening visitors from Latin American and African countries at the airport to break the explosive spread of Zika virus into the Island.
