Public health officers conducted a raid on several restaurants in the Pettah area today to check on the conditions and hygiene levels in which the food was being prepared.

The raid was conducted on 13 restaurants situated near the Bastian Mawatha, in Pettah.

Samples of food from the restaurants were collected by the officers who said that many restaurants were currently preparing food in an unhygienic environment.

Public health officers are conducting further investigation into the matter.
