A rep. of AG meets Kotte Chief Prelate to explain acts of Gnanasara Thera

A representative of the Attorney General has met the Chief Prelate of the Kotte Kalyani Samgri Dharma Maha Sangha Council of the Siyam Nikaya Venerable Iththapane Dhammalankara Thera recently to explain the acts of Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera.

Accordingly it is reported that the Sangha Council is to meet soon to make a decision relating to Gnansara Thera.

Gnansara Thera, now in prison represents the Kotte faction of the Sangha Council.

At the same time, the Bar Association has decided to appoint a special committee to take action against the individuals who behaved violently at the Homagama Magistrate Court and the contempt of Court by Gnanasara Thera.

Meanwhile several other monks including the General Secretary of Sinhala Ravaya Magalkande Sudatta Thera scheduled to surrender to the Homagama Police today. 

They have been charged with behaving violently during the incident in front of the Homagama Magistrate Court.

In addition, another four individuals who were charged with the same have been remanded till February 9th..
