The Collective of Port Users Associations stated that the trade union action launched by their members this morning was successful.

Container vehicle workers, Lorry drivers and assistants, Wharf agents, clerks and sub contractors have joined this strike which was launched against the increase of Port Entry fees.

Convener of the Collective of Port Users Associations B.I. Aabdeen said it is very unfair to increase the Port Entry fee by 4000 percent.

However Customs Media Spokesman Leslie Gamini stated that routine work of the Customs have not been affected due to the strike.

A senior Port Authority spokesman also stated that no operation of the Port Authority has been affected due to the strike.
