The Northern Provincial Council Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran says that he is happy about the National Anthem being sung in Tamil at the end of the 68th Independence Day.

The national anthem was recited in Tamil this year for the first time after Sri Lanka's maiden Independence Day celebration in 1949.

He made this comment this after participating in religious rites at the Naaga Viharaya in Jaffna this morning.
