A report prepared by the Central Environment Authority (CEA) on the underground water resources in the environs of Rathupaswala in Weliweriya has been submitted to the Court of Appeal.

The report was submitted when the Writ petition filed by the Siyane Water Protection Association was taken up for hearing this morning (Monday 08).

The Court had earlier ordered the CEA to present an inquiry report in this regard on or before February 08. Several tests were conducted by the CEA to determine whether water obtained from the underground water resources within the area is suitable for drinking.

The case will be taken up for hearing again on April 28.
