Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the current government is taking measures to strengthen the rights of the people not only in the Northern Province but the entire country.

The Prime Minister told visiting UNHRC Chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussain at Temple Trees this morning that the people in the South also faced human rights violation incidents in the recent past. 

He further said this government has over the last year focused on restoring democracy and rule of law.

The visiting UNHRC Chief praised the steps taken by the government in ensuring that human rights are being upheld in the country.
