The Department of Buddhist Affairs has taken steps to set up C.C.T.V security cameras at Seenigama Devalaya.
This decision was taken following a request from Devalaya authorities. They had complained that the seal of two offering boxes (pin keta) were forced open on Monday (08) night.
The Seenigama Devalaya authorities have lodged a complaint at the Elpitiya Police and its Special Crime Unit has launched an investigation into the matter.
Seenigama Devalaya has five large offering boxes, which are owned by the Department of Buddhist Affairs.
UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena’s wallet was also pick-pocketed at the Seenigama Devalaya when he attended the coconut dashing ritual held recently.
