The CID informed court yesterday that about 12 more elephant calves held without permits would be taken into custody within the next two weeks.

The police told court that two persons were also due to be arrested in connection with the elephant register gone missing.

The case relevant to the incident of possessing tamed elephants without a permit was taken up for hearing before the Colombo Magistrate Gihaan Pilapitiya.

Meanwhile the Attorney General’s Department made submissions in court against Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage under five charges.

In the submission it was stated that Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage had gone to the Pinnawala elephant orphanage to see the elephant calf he had been keeping and behaved there in a rebellious manner.

In addition obstruction of the security division staff is also another allegation levelled against him.
