A Bill was presented in Parliament yesterday (10th) to set the national minimum monthly wage for all workers in any industry or service at Rs. 10,000, while the national minimum daily wage of a worker will be Rs. 400.
Once passed in the Parliament, the law will have retrospective effect from January 1st, 2016.
According to the parliament, the national minimum wage is the pay after deducting all contributions of all sorts.
Parliamentary sources reveal that along with the minimum wage bill, the government also tabled in a Bill for the payment of a Budgetary Relief Allowance up to Rs. 2,500 to each private sector employee who draws a salary less than Rs. 40,000 per month.
