The SLFP Central Working Committee which met this afternoon has decided to take disciplinary action against its members who criticize the party and its leadership.
At the same time the Central Working Committee has decided to not allow its MPs to function as a separate group in parliament. The SLFP Central Working Committee met with the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and its 53 members.
An advisor of the party and former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as well as MPs who represent the Joint Opposition such as Kumara Welgama, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana and Pavithra Wanniarachchi were also present.
Later on, party General Secretary and Minister Duminda Dissanayake told the media that the resolution to take disciplinary action against those who criticize the party and its leadership was passed unanimously.
The party general secretary also said the Central Working Committee decided to give another opportunity for the nine local government institutions’ chairmen to show cause for criticism against the party policies during media conferences.
