Bhikkus representing the Asgiri Chapter has opposed the proposed Theravada Bhikku Kathikawatha Bill during a discussion yesterday.
This event took place at Ven. Upali Maha Thero Memorial Hall in Asgiri Viharaya, Kandy and was headed by Chief Prelate of Asgiri Chapter Ven. Galagama Sri Aththadassi.
Bhikkus and lawyers representing the Asgiri Chapter took part in the discussion.
Asgiri committee member Ven. Dr. Medagama Dhammananda claimed that Bhikkus will have to face many hardships if the proposed bill is active.
However, Supreme Court stated that the bill will be passed only if it is approved with two thirds majority at the Parliament and a public referendum.
