50K+ traffic law violation cases reported from express ways- SL Police

Sri Lanka Police revealed that they could file 50,685 cases in 2015 for violation of traffic law in Southern and Katunayake Express ways.

Most of the cases have been filed for exceeding Express way speed limits.

In terms of exceeding speed limits out of reported 50,685 cases, 9240 cases have been reported from Southern express way while 11497 have been reported from Katunayake express way.

Meanwhile, there have been three fatal accidents in express ways while 432 passengers have been injured by various accidents.
112 of them were injured in Colombo- Katunayake express way.
