Peacock, India’s national bird will soon be labelled as a vermin as Goa plans to cull the animal to save crops.

The Agriculture Minister in Goa Ramesh Tawadkar has made the proposal to cull the animals as they destruct local crops causing damages to the state’s economy.

Monkeys, wild boars and wild bison will also be culled along with the peacocks.

However, animal rights activists are criticizing Minister Tawadkar’s move.

The peacock is a protected species in India’s Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
