President Maithripala Sirisena’s visit to Germany, commencing tomorrow (13), will help to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, Presidential Media Unit said.
It added that Germany is ‘one of economically powerful member States of the European Union and one of the largest export economies in the world’ and during the visit the President will take the opportunity to look at any economic and development benefits to Sri Lanka.
‘A special ceremony will be held under the patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to welcome the President on February 17 and will accord a Guard of Honour,’ it further stated.
President Sirisena will also meet representatives of the German Parliament and hold a bilateral discussion with Foreign and Economic Affairs ministers of Germany.
Following his two day visit in Germany the President will then leave to Australia on February 19.
