An individual was critically injured after being subjected to a wild elephant attack at Maradhankadawala, Kattimurichchana-Thorankulama in Anuradhapura last night, Police sources told Hiru news.

The victim was rushed to Kekirawa Hospital. He was pronounced dead upon admission to the hospital.

The deceased was identified as a 47-year-old resident of Kattimurichchana.

The post mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted today.

Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
