Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara was re-remanded till February 23 by the Homagama Magistrate today (16), for allegedly threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda, the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.
Ven. Galagodaatte Gnansara Thera was arrested by the Homagama police, and was remanded on the orders of the Homagama Magistrate till February 9 on January 26.
Meanwhile, a tense situation prevailed outside the court premises following the court order. A group of monks and laymen were reported to have carried out a protest against the arresting of the monk and remanding.
Homagama Magistrate on January 25 ordered the police to arrest and produce Galagoda aththe Gnanasara Thera, before court. The Magistrate issued the order against the Thera on three charges, including obstruction of court proceedings. Ven. Gnanasara was alleged of defaming the court by blaming Sandhya Ekneligoda,wife of late journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.
