Illegal residents in Thotalanga area are still protesting over a move by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) to demolish their houses.

Residents launched a protest by blocking the main route along Ferguson road in Thotalanga yesterday after the UDA decided to take out over 200 houses built illegally.

The UDA had informed about this move a year ago.

However, residents are demanding for new houses in replace of the houses that will be demolished.

The Police Special Task Force is deployed to control the situation.
