A co-operation agreement in Mass Communication sector was signed on last Thursday (11th) between the Russian and Sri Lankan governments in Moscow city.

According to government sources, the Secretary to the Ministry of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Wajira Narampanawa and the Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Nikolay Nikiforov were the signatories for the two governments.

The new agreement is expected to strengthen the long standing close relationships between Russia and Sri Lanka while respecting freedom, independence, equality and sovereignty in the internal affairs of each state.

The agreement valid for a period of five years comprises of 10 sentences which provide the space for the both countries to improve their communication sectors.
