A group of workers attached to the Kolonnawa Oil Storage Terminal surrounded its Human Resources Division in protest this morning.
General Secretary of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya branch Ananda Palitha stated the workers resorted to this action in protest of recruiting 150 workers out of the standard recruitment procedure.
He also said the Human Resources Division is taking steps to issue the letters of appointment today to those new workers in line with the instruction of Petroleum and Petro Gas Minister Chandima Weerakkody.
Attempts to contact Minister Chandima Weerakkody to comment on the situation was not successful.
However, chairman of Petroleum Storage Terminal Shehan Seneviratne said the Ministry has decided to recruit them under temporary basis.
