The four Buddhist monks who surrendered to Police yesterday under the charges of behaving in an unruly manner at Homagama Court premises, are due to be produced before Homagama Magistrate’s court today.
According to our correspondent, monks attached to Bodu Bala Sena and Ravana Balaya organizations surrendered to Police yesterday.
Meanwhile, 4 monks including Ravana Balaya organization’s convener Ven. Ittakande Saddhatissa Thera and Sinhala Ravaya organization’s Chairperson Ven. Akmeemana Dayaratana Thera who surrendered to the police recently in connection with the same incident, were produced for an identification parade on the 16th of this month.
Later, the Magistrate ordered 11 monks including Ravana Balaya organization’s convener Ven. Ittakande Saddhatissa Thera, Sinhala Ravaya organization’s Chairperson Ven. Akmeemana Dayaratana Thera and Sinaha Ravaya’s General Secretary Ven. Magalkande Sudatta Thera to be remanded until the 1st of March.
General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena organization Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was ordered to be remanded until the 23rd of this month at the Court proceedings on last 16th.
Previously, Gnanasara Thera was ordered to be bailed. However, the Thera was further remanded for making threats against Sandya Eknaligoda, the wife of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.
