Austria keen to strengthen bilateral ties with Sri Lanka

During the bilateral discussions held at Austrian President Fischer's office after the welcoming ceremony, the leaders of Austria and Sri Lanka agreed to increase the cooperation in the economic development between the two countries.

Following the bilateral discussions, President Sirisena and his Austrian counterpart Fischer held a joint press conference.

Addressing the joint press conference, leaders of the heads of the governments stated that their hope is to further enhance the existing bilateral ties between the two countries and initiate stronger bilateral relations in sports, culture and education sectors.

Meanwhile, Austria pledged to assist Sri Lanka to get the European Union's ban on fishery exports lifted as well as to regain the GSP+ tariff concession.
